What's on the Horizon? Old School - New Cool #4

What happened in 1960?  Hmmmm, let's see......

Lucille Ball filed for divorce from Desi Arnaz.
Johnny Cash played his first prison gig.
The first U.S. weather satellite was launched.
"Bye, Bye, Birdie"  opened on Broadway
Birth control became legal in the United States.
Cathy's Clown by the Everly Brothers hit #1.
The movie, Psycho, made its NYC debut.
The 50-star American flag, including Hawaii, was unfurled on July 4th.
The Democrats nominated JFK for president; the Republicans nominated Nixon.
Chubby Checker released The Twist, setting off a new dance craze.
Cassius Clay (later Muhammad Ali) won gold in Olympic boxing.
Ted Williams hit the final homer in his professional career.
Martin Luther King, Jr., was arrested at the Atlanta sit-in.
OPEC was formed.
My sister, Deb, was born, and I was conceived.

And this book was published:

And it's apparent, once you peruse its pages, that decorators in the 1960s loved horizontal stripes.  They were HOT!

I contend that there's nothing new under the sun, just New Cool takes on Old School decor.  See what I mean?

And there you have it.  A beautiful selection of 2011 stripes, foreseen by the psychic decorators of 1960!  Thank you, Better Homes and Gardens!

Love,

Sass
