Sneak Peek Saturday - Bottle Corsages

Welcome back to Sneak Peek Saturday!  I know that I took last Saturday off, but I hope you understand and are happy to see me back with more wedding inspiration.  It's important for you to know that I am a very nontraditional bride, but I want some prettiness and personality at my wedding.  I was married once, for just shy of eight years, but that seems like a million years ago, and it will be an enormous life change for me.  I have been single for twenty six years!  For all I know - that may be longer than many of you, dear readers, have been alive!

We thought about just going to the courthouse to get married.  In fact, I am pretty sure that MMM would have preferred it that way.  But it's important to me to celebrate the day.  I want the day we marry to be filled with memories.

While this isn't the precise photo that inspired today's sneak peek (I couldn't find the one I wanted), it carries some of the feeling of what I have been working on. These pretty little bottles are a similar look.

MMM loves himself a craft brew.  I, personally, prefer a nice cocktail, along the lines of a cosmopolitan.  But MMM's favorite beverage is an ice cold IPA.  If you, like me, had no idea what an IPA is, well, let me enlighten you.

IPA stands for India Pale Ale, and it, apparently, was created during the British occupation of India. Brewers would make the ale extra 'hoppy' so that it would stay flavorful during the long shipping voyage to India.  It's that hoppy flavor that MMM loves.  [*Cough* Just tastes like beer to me *Shrug*  I don't get it, but he's a bit of a connoisseur.  He's that way about tea, too.  Again, I don't get it.  A nice cuppa Lipton will do, as far as I'm concerned.  As long as it's hot and sweet, I'm happy!  Digressing.....] This bit of decor, then, is reflective of MMM.

I am making bottle corsages for nice brown beer bottles.  Let me tell you what - those labels are not easy to get off, and I've misplaced my bottle of goof-off!  I steamed this one and then scrubbed the adhesive with steel wool.

The corsages are made with felt and beads and hot glue, with a bit of ribbon to hang around the neck of the bottle.

Then I twisted wire around the neck to make a hanger for the bottle, itself.

I intend to hang about 40 of these in a sort of "curtain" as a backdrop behind the officiant.  I think it will be very pretty.

Hope you enjoyed this little sneaky peek!

Love,

Sass
